Propane refill
Fill 20 lb and 100 lb tanks at The Old Railroad Stop gas bar, 341 Hiawatha Line, Hiawatha First Nation (north shore of Rice Lake). Call ahead if you are unsure about tank condition or hours.
Hours
- Gas bar / store: 7:00 am–9:00 pm, seven days
- Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day

What we refill
- 20 lb barbecue / cottage tanks (standard BBQ cylinder)
- 100 lb larger cylinders for longer stays or bigger setups
Prices change with supplier cost — ask at the pump or call for today’s refill price. We do not publish a guaranteed online propane rate.
Tank rules (safety)
- Tanks must be in good condition: no severe rust, dents, or damaged valves.
- Out-of-date or expired cylinders may be refused — bring a current tank when you can.
- No smoking anywhere near the propane fill area.
- Stay with your vehicle/tank during the fill; attendants follow local fill rules.
- Do not overfill — leave room for expansion. We stop at a safe fill level.

Tips for the drive / cottage
- Keep tanks upright and secured while travelling.
- Never store a propane cylinder indoors or in a sealed vehicle cabin for long periods.

Note: The restaurant next door shares the building but is a separate business. Propane fills are handled at the gas bar.
